Gift cards in the UAE: choosing the right region

A practical guide for UAE accounts: PlayStation, Xbox, Apple, Google Play and streaming.

In the United Arab Emirates, many platforms have a UAE store. If your account is set to the UAE, choose UAE cards. If you use an account from another country, for example the USA, choose cards for that country.

Gaming

PlayStation and Xbox cards for the UAE are added in the local store currency. US cards will not work on a UAE account, and UAE cards will not work on a US account.

Apps and subscriptions

Apple and Google Play cards for the UAE can pay for apps, games and many subscriptions billed through the store. Check that your subscription is billed by Apple or Google, not directly by the service.

  1. Open your account settings and check the region.
  2. Choose the UAE region on the brand page if your account is a UAE account.
  3. Redeem the code on the official site or app of the brand.

Expats often keep accounts from their home country. Buy cards for the account's country, not for where you live now.
