Gift cards for expats: keeping your home-country accounts

Living abroad but keeping accounts from home? Here is how to keep them topped up with the right cards.

Expats often keep their PlayStation, Apple or Google accounts from their home country. Their bank cards may not work in that store any more, which makes gift cards the easiest way to pay.

The rule to remember

Always buy cards for the country of the account, not the country where you live now. A UK account needs UK cards even if you live in Dubai or Riyadh.

What to keep in mind

  1. List your accounts and their countries.
  2. Choose cards for each account's country.
  3. Redeem each code on the official site of the brand.

Keep your JR balance topped up once, then buy cards for different countries whenever you need them.
