How to redeem an Amazon gift card (and keep your balance safe)
Add an Amazon gift card to your account, check your balance, and avoid the most common mistakes.
An Amazon gift card adds balance to your Amazon account on the Amazon site of the card's country. A US card works on Amazon.com, a UK card on Amazon.co.uk, a German card on Amazon.de.
Redeem on the website
- Sign in on the Amazon site for the card's country.
- Open Your Account, then Gift cards.
- Choose Redeem a gift card and enter the claim code.
- Click Apply to your balance.
Redeem in the app
In the Amazon app, open the menu, go to Your Account and look for Gift card balance. The steps are the same.
Good to know
- Amazon balance is used automatically at checkout when it is selected as the payment method.
- Some items sold by other sellers or some digital services may not accept gift card balance.
- Balance from one Amazon country cannot be used on another Amazon country site.
Amazon will never ask you to pay a fee or a fine with gift cards. If someone does, it is a scam.
